FUNDING FOR GRANTS IS DIRECTLY DEPENDENT ON SALES OF 'SUPPORT SOCCER' SPECIALTY LICENSE PLATES. GRANTS HAVE BEEN DISTRIBUTED AND FUNDS GENERATED FROM SALES OF THE 'SUPPORT SOCCER' SPECIALTY LICENSE PLATE HAVE ALSO BEEN DISTRIBUTED TO FYSA AND FSSA. GRANT APPLICATIONS ARE AVAILABLE.
The grant proceeds from the specialty license plate are specifically governed by Florida statutes:

In accordance with the above-referenced Legislation, The Lighthouse Soccer Foundation, Inc., a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit Florida corporation, is permitted to distribute funds generated by sales of the ‘Support Soccer' specialty license plates:
“Twenty percent shall be distributed as grants for programs that promote participation by the economically disadvantaged and to support soccer programs where none previously existed;
Ten percent shall be distributed as grants for programs that promote and support the construction of fields and soccer-specific infrastructure;
Ten percent shall be distributed as grants for programs that foster and promote health, physical fitness, and educational opportunities through soccer.”
Earnings from the revenue generated from the sales of the ‘Support Soccer' Specialty License Plate are the source for grants made by the Foundation for worthy soccer projects. Applicants must be a Florida based organization and funds must be utilized in Florida.
The following types of applications WILL NOT be accepted:
Applications either for or from:
• Political Campaigns;
• Non–Florida or Foreign Projects or Individuals;
• Organizations that Discriminate by race, color, creed, sex or national origin;
• Pass Through Grants (funds granted to one organization for the purpose
of granting to another);
• Grants to a For-Profit Entity that are not solely to promote a charitable section 501 (c)(3) purpose.
Application Fee: There is no Application Fee.
Awards are restricted to Florida based organizations and the funds must be used for programs in Florida.
The Grants Committee will select those Applications that, in its sole discretion and determination, best meet those standards. The Grants Committee will recommend those Applications, together with the amount of grant moneys and other terms, if any, to the Foundation's Board of Directors for consideration.
A personal presentation about an Application to the Foundation (Executive Director, Grants Committee, or Board of Directors) will be at the discretion of the Foundation and only after advance written invitation.
ESTIMATED AMOUNT FOR EACH AWARD : The amount of the distribution varies greatly on the number of applicants and the amount of funds generated from the sales of the specialty license plate. As of May 31, 2010, 2,307 plates have been sold in 2010, which has generated revenue of approximately $57,675.00, which provides for approximately $23,070.00 available for grants so far this year.
PROJECTED NEXT GRANT AWARD DATE : Grants are awarded on an ongoing basis as funds become available.
