The Lighthouse Soccer Foundation, Inc., established in April, 1992, was created to provide Floridians an equal opportunity to benefit from participation in soccer, promoting both independence and team spirit.

"To inspire and promote leadership, teamwork, self-confidence and self-expression through participation in soccer, promoting participation by the economically and physically disadvantaged, fostering health, physical fitness and educational opportunities and firmly implanting in the community the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, integrity, courage, respect of authority and fun of sports."

In 2005, the Foundation succesfully created the first Florida specialty license plate devoted to encouraging soccer in Florida. The underlying principle of the organization is access to the sport - for everyone, regardless of economic, racial, or physical ability. Soccer is truly a world sport, accessible to all. The Foundation utilizes funds received from the specialty plate to assist in achieving its purposes.
